Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the deal with this website?

As work in animation tends to end when productions finish, animators and industry artists need good search tools to find their next jobs. For that reason, CartoonRecruit.com aggregates links to current job posts across the animation industry, focusing on English-speaking animation hubs.

Who are you?

This website is run by Mike Schnier in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Mike is a digital marketing professional and community manager who specializes in the animation industry. For feedback of any kind, Mike can be reached at mike@cartoonrecruit.com.

How do you find job listings?

Mike collects listings for this site directly from studio job boards, monitored daily. He also follows recruiters on LinkedIn and other social platforms.

What happened to that one job opening I was looking at?

As the goal of CartoonRecruit.com is to list current job opportunities, listings expire after 21 days.

Why do you have affiliate links?

CartoonRecruit.com does not serve banner ads or collect data from visitors, but it does take resources to run a website — including time, attention and hosting fees. Affiliate links help shoulder that cost and will always be clearly marked, separate from our job listings.

What do I get if I support your Patreon?

The biggest reason to join CartoonRecruit.com’s Patreon is to help keep this website running! Currently patrons at our $3 tier can access CartoonRecruit Discord server’s discussion and artist portfolio channels, in addition to having our heartfelt appreciation.

How do I get a job listing on your website?

Hiring managers and recruiters can submit listings through this Google form. Submissions missing links to a website or social media post will not be shared. All submissions are reviewed by me, and may be posted or withheld at my discretion.

Why are there no listings for unpaid internship or art contests?

This is a job board for professionals and artists in the animation industry, and for that reason unpaid positions or spec work (labor that is not guaranteed fair pay) is not accepted. The Animation Guild’s website has helpful resources on fair wages in the American animation industry.

Why are there no listings for NFT and AI projects?

I don’t like them.

What’s with the military theme?

It’s only a shtick. I find that “Cartoon” sounds good with “Recruit,” and those words fit what this project does. This website and associated social pages are not a commentary on or endorsement of real-world armed conflict.
